The Braunau am Inn district is a political district in the Province of Upper Austria .

In the east it borders on the districts of Ried im Innkreis and Vöcklabruck , in the south on the Salzburg-Umgebung district , in the west and north on the Bavarian districts of Traunstein , Altötting , Rottal-Inn and Passau . It corresponds to the Upper Innviertel region .

history

Administrative division

The Braunau am Inn district covers 1,040.11 km² and is divided into 46 communities , including three towns and five market communities. This makes it the third richest district in Austria after the districts of Innsbruck-Land in Tyrol and the neighboring district of Vöcklabruck. The population figures are from January 1st, 2020.
