  • March 1 - NBC and CBS report live from Hopewell, New Jersey about the kidnapping of Charles Lindbergh's son .
  • March 14 - On a multi-part radio broadcast, British economist John Maynard Keynes declares that the state must play an active role. The world economic crisis shows that the existing market economy system, which was unaffected by the state, has failed.
  • May 2 - The first episode of The Jack Benny program can be heard on NBC Blue Network (an NBC radio chain ) . The popular comedy show remained on the NBC radio program until 1955 (but switched to CBS at times ) and made the entertainer and actor Jack Benny a nationally known radio personality in the USA.
  • November 7 - The World premieres in 2432 on CBS Radio . In it, the science fiction hero Buck Rogers, previously known from comic strips, appears on the radio for the first time.
  • December 19 - The BBC Empire Service (predecessor to the BBC World Service ) begins operations.
  • December 25th - King George V of Great Britain gives his first Christmas address on a BBC Empire Service program .
