  • February 27 - The BBC General Forces Program replaces the previous BBC Forces Program .
  • March 7 - The Columbia Presents Corwin series , hosted by Norman Corwin , premieres on CBS .
  • June 5 - In the 29th and penultimate edition of his fireside chats ( Fireside Chats ) US President expresses Franklin D. Roosevelt for the Liberation of Rome ( On the Fall of Rome ).
  • June 12 - In the 30th and final issue of Fireside Chats, Roosevelt discusses War Loan Drive ( Opening Fifth War Loan Drive ).
  • August 25 - Shortly after the liberation of Paris , Charles de Gaulle gave a speech to the population from the balcony of the Paris town hall , in which he wrote the famous quote: Paris outragé! Paris martyrisé! Mais Paris liberté! (Desecrated Paris! Martyred Paris! But liberated Paris!) A little later, de Gaulle improvised his position on the radio.
  • December 6 - US Army transmitter 1212, based in Luxembourg, goes on air.
