April 1: As of April 1, 2018, Media Broadcast would like to give up the operation of VHF transmission antennas on transmission masts in Germany and has terminated all contracts for this purpose. However, since it was not possible to find buyers for all transmission antennas in Germany, there was a temporary threat that VHF broadcasting would be switched off on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in almost all of eastern Germany and in many regions of western Germany. Although this could literally be prevented at the last second, the dispute continues to smolder in the background. The Federal Network Agency is currently examining whether VHF transmission antennas in Germany will require official regulation in the future.
