  • February 15 - ARD opens a correspondent's office in Beijing .
  • March 12th - In Italy, the autonomous radio station Radio Alice is shut down by the communist mayor of Bologna Renato Zangheri for “incitement to violence” and “ringleadership” .
  • June 13th - The weekday caller broadcast starts on Ö1 from day to day . In the series, also known as the Ö1 Tagebuch , which initially goes on air in the mornings, but changes to a program slot in the early afternoon (until it was discontinued in 2017) in the same year, guests are invited to various, often current, topics listeners can ask questions. In the first program, moderated by Volkmar Parschalk , the writer Manès Sperber is a guest.
  • October 9th - The Austrian radio broadcaster Ö1 broadcasts the simultaneous stereo sound for the first ORF stereo concert on television.
  • October 15th - Start of the Ö1 feature series Hörbilder with the feature Zeltweg designed by Alfredreiber and Richard Goll - acoustic portrait of a spectacle .
