- January 15 - In Great Britain, the British Broadcasting Company's 2LO station broadcasts Europe's first original radio play . It comes from Richard Hughes and is called Danger or A Comedy of Danger (German title: danger ).
- January 22nd - Mitteldeutsche Rundfunk AG (MIRAG) is founded and goes on air on March 2nd.
- February 12 - Calvin Coolidge delivers the first US President's speech on the radio. Broadcast from New York , it has an estimated 5 million listeners.
- February 12 - The Eveready Hour premieres on US radio station WEAF (1922–1946). The program is considered to be the first commercially sponsored variety program in the history of broadcasting.
- March 30th - German hour starts broadcasting in Bavaria (entertainment company founded by Munich business people)
- May 2nd - Nordische Rundfunk AG (NORAG) goes on air.
- August 2nd - German hour's subsidiary station Nuremberg in Bavaria goes into operation
- September 1st - German hour's subsidiary station Augsburg starts operating in Bavaria
- September 14th - 2BE Belfast , operated by the British Broadcasting Company (now British Broadcasting Corporation ), goes on air as the first radio broadcaster in Northern Ireland .
- November 30th - NORAG starts its second program based in Bremen .
- October 1st - Radio Verkehrs AG (RAVAG) starts its official broadcasting operations from a provisional studio in Vienna on Stubenring.

- November 30th - Allan Sherman , American television producer, actor and parodist was born in Chicago († 1973).
- December 20 - Walter Davy , Austrian actor and television director was born in Vienna († 2003). Davy became known to the general public primarily in the role of Schremser in the crime parody Kottan .
