- June 9th - The 7-minute animated short film The Wise Little Hen features the comic and cartoon character Donald Duck in a supporting role for the first time . The character soon becomes the most popular in the " Walt Disney Universe " alongside Mickey Mouse .
- July 1 - USA: The Federal Radio Commission is replaced by the Federal Communications Commission .

- February - During the February fighting between the Austrian federal army and the Republican Conservation Union , an armed, paramilitary forces of the Social Democrats , Chancellor announced Engelbert Dollfuss on RAVAG the martial law .
- April - Debut of the talent show Major Bowes Amateur Hour on New York station WHN .
- July 25th - During the National Socialist July coup in Austria, the RAVAG studios in Vienna's Johannesgasse are occupied by putschists. You have an alleged declaration of resignation read out by Chancellor Dollfuss. Several people were killed in the course of the fighting and the premises were devastated.
- November 24th: The entertainment program The happy Saturday afternoon with the "three happy journeymen" (Hans Salcher, Rudi Rauher and Karl Wilhelmi) is broadcast for the first time by the Reichsender Köln .

- February - Ernst Grissemann , Austrian radio presenter, 1967–1979, first director of the pop wave Ö3 , was born in Imst . His unmistakable voice made him known to a wide audience as a long-time ORF commentator on the New Year's Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic and the Eurovision Song Contest .
- February 17 - Barry Humphries , Australian comedian and actor (fictional character Dame Edna Everage ) is born in Melbourne .
- May 16 - Ilse Seemann , actress, radio play speaker, radio presenter at NDR and author, was born in Beeskow .
