Saulxures is a French commune with 128 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haute-Marne department in the Grand Est region ; it belongs to the Arrondissement of Langres .

geography

Saulxures is located around 38 kilometers southeast of the city of Chaumont in the southeast of the Haute-Marne department.

history

The mechanization of agriculture led to emigration in the late 19th and 20th centuries. Saulxures historically belongs to the Bailliage de la Marche Bailiwick within the Barrois mouvant region. The place belonged from 1793 to 1801 to the District Bourbonne. Also from 1793 to 1801 to the canton Rançonnières and 1801 to 2015 to the canton Montigny (name from 1974: Val-de-Meuse ). From 1972 to January 1, 2012, the municipality was incorporated into Val-de-Meuse .
