Artur Kamilewitsch Akhmatchusin ( Russian Артур Камилевич Ахматхузин ; born May 21, 1988 in Krasnokamsi , Bashkir ASSR , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian foil fencer . In 2016 he became an Olympic and European champion as a member of the Russian team .

successes

Artur Achmatchusin started fencing in 1996. He took part in the 2012 Olympic Games in London , where he finished 16th in the individual and fifth with the team. In 2013, he celebrated his first major international success in Budapest when he became vice world champion . In the final battle he was defeated by Miles Chamley-Watson with 6:15. Two years later he missed the final at the World Cup in Moscow after a 10:15 semi-final defeat by Alexander Massialas and won bronze. With the team, however, he entered the battle for the title. The team lost to Italy with 38:45. In the same year he was in Montreux with the team vice European champion behind France. At the European Championships in 2016 , the team took revenge and defeated France in the semi-finals. In the last fight Italy was also defeated, so that Achmatchusin became European champion. At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , he finished 15th in the individual. With the team, which consisted of Timur Safin and Alexei Cheremissinov in addition to Achmatschusin , he reached the final after victories against Great Britain and the United States, in which the Russian team France with 45:41 and became Olympic champion. The Games were Achmatchusin's last international competition.

He has a son with the fencer Julija Raschidowa .
