The Audi allroad quattro (since 2006 Audi A6 allroad quattro ) is the off-road version of the Audi A6 Avant . It differs from the original model in that it has permanent all-wheel drive with air suspension as standard , greater ground clearance , and flared and protected fenders at the front and rear. With the level control , the ground clearance can be adjusted in four stages (C5). At the highest level, a ground clearance of 20.8 centimeters for the C5 and 18.5 centimeters for the C6 is achieved. At higher speeds, the level is automatically lowered again to reduce air resistance.
The first generation of the allroad quattro could optionally also be ordered with a reduction gear (low range).
Prices for models in the C6 series started at € 51,300 ( diesel ) and € 54,600 ( gasoline engine ). (Status: February 2010)

Production of the allroad quattro began at the end of 1999. It was shown to the public for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show 2000. It came in spring 2000 as an offshoot of the then current A6, first with the 2.7-liter V6 petrol engine and the more powerful 2, 5 l V6 TDI diesel engine on the market.
In mid-2002 the appearance of the allroad quattro was revised and adapted to the A6 of the time. From then on, the 4.2-liter eight-cylinder petrol engine was also available, and a year later a less powerful 2.5-liter V6 TDI diesel engine, which was only available with a manual transmission, was added.
Production of the allroad quattro was ended in summer 2005.

The third generation of the A6 allroad quattro has been in production since the beginning of 2012 and, like the previous generations, was formally shown publicly for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show of the same year. It was available with a 3.0-liter gasoline engine, in September 2014 the old model was replaced by a new model, this vehicle already complies with the Euro 6 emissions standard . However, production ended in April 2016. The original three 3.0-liter diesel engines have also been revised. There are now four 3.0-l diesel engine models, they have completely replaced the three original models. The new models are significantly more economical and already meet the Euro 6 emissions standard.
Facelift
In October 2014, the allroad quattro was given a facelift parallel to the A6 series.
This can be recognized by modified headlights, modified radiator grille, other bumpers and sills as well as modernized taillights.
Technically, almost the entire range of engines has been optimized, thanks to increased performance but still lower fuel consumption. The only petrol engine, the 3.0 TFSI, now has an output of 245 kW (333 PS) and the various versions of the 3.0 TDI now cover a range from 160 kW (218 PS) to 235 kW (320 PS).
