Aumühle (colloquially: Āmīl ) is a district of the independent city of Ansbach , Middle Franconia .

geography

The wasteland lies on the Franconian Rezat and the Eichenbach, which flows into the Rezat as a left tributary. The place is on the state road 2223 , which leads to Alberndorf (2.2 km east) or Eyb (0.7 km north-west).

history

The place was first mentioned by name in the first half of the 14th century as "Aumül" (= the mill located in the floodplain). Nothing has survived from the first mill. In 1599 a new mill was built, but it was already damaged in the Thirty Years War . In 1661 Johann Schrenk bought the ruins and rebuilt them. From 1880 it was operated with a turbine. The mill buildings have been in the Franconian Open Air Museum in Bad Windsheim since 1987 . What is left are the residential and utility buildings.

Towards the end of the 18th century, the Aumühle belonged to Eyb . The mill had the Brandenburg-Ansbach Hofkastenamt Ansbach as landlord . Under the Prussian administration (1792-1806) of the Principality of Ansbach, the Aumühle was given house number 1 in Eyb. From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office of Ansbach .

As part of the municipal edict, Aumühle was assigned to the Eyb tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Eyb, founded in 1811 . This was incorporated into the city of Ansbach on October 1, 1970, before the regional reform in Bavaria .
