history

The first written mention of Brsiesolub was in a deed of ownership of the Smilheim monastery dated to 1261 , in which part of the village is listed as monastic property. However, this document turned out to be a later forgery. The other part belonged to the Vladiken von Březolup. In 1349 the village was called Brziesolupi , 1372 Prsisilow , 1374 Brzizolup and a year later Brezolup . Vícek von Březolup sold the village inherited from his father to the monastery in 1370. For the payment of the co-heirs, the abbot Peter borrowed the missing funds from the Brno mint master Arnolt and gave him the village of Líšeň as a pledge. As a result of the decline of the monastery, the Brzezolupy estate returned to secular owners in 1437, who changed in rapid succession. One of them was Dalibor Onšík from Bělkovice on Pohořelice , who bought the estate in 1538 as a pledge. Later the Tettau von Tettau followed . During their time, the fortress was first mentioned in a document in 1571, but it was established as the center of the estate as early as the second half of the 14th century. František Horecký von Horka, who bought Brzezolupy in 1650 and a little later Pohořelice, had the fortress converted into a castle. In 1668 his children sold the Pohořelice and Brzezolupy estates and half of Zborovice to Attilio Offredi. Offredi's three sons sold the Moravian property to their mother and her sons from their first marriage after their father's death. Georg Friedrich Forgács received Brzezolupy , after his death in 1694 the estate fell to his brother Franz Leopold Forgács, who moved with his mother from Pohořelice to the Brzezolupy Castle and sold Pohořelice to Franz Karl von Liechtenstein-Kastelkorn in 1698 . Hugo I. Logothetti bought the estate in 1830, and a year later he also acquired the Bílovice estate . The place name Březolupy has been used since 1846 . Březolupy always remained an independent estate until the middle of the 19th century.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Březolupy / Brzezolup 1850 a municipality in the district administration Uherské Hradiště . In 1861 the brothers Zdenko and Wladimir Logothetti inherited half of the paternal property. Zdenko and his mother moved into the Březolupy Castle. Later, Vladimir Logothetti bought his brother's share. In 1912 Hugo II. Logothetti sold the castle and the associated goods to his tenant, the sugar manufacturer A. May from Staré Město . In 1929 the Bata group acquired the castle, in 1949 it was nationalized and given to the municipality.
