Eberhard
Eberhard is a male given name and also occurs as a family name .
Origin and meaning
Eberhard is made up of the Old High German elements ebur = ' wild boar ', ' boar ' and hard = 'firm', 'rough', but with personal names 'hard' means 'strong and bold'.
While boar is commonly used today to mean the male domestic pig and the male wild boar is technically referred to as boar , the original meaning of the word term - "boar" from ebur - is the male wild boar.
Variants are Ebert, Eberhardt and Eberhart and in Low German Everhard, Evert and Ewert.
