The 2000/01 season was the 45th season of the Eredivisie , the highest Dutch football league. PSV Eindhoven became champions for the 16th time . RBC Roosendaal had to relegate .
In the relegation Fortuna Sittard and Sparta Rotterdam prevailed, thus playing in the 2001/02 Eredivisie . Both managed to stay up.
