The Langensee is a still water in the area of ​​the Baden-Württemberg community Neukirch in the Lake Constance district in Germany .

location

The lake is located around 1.5 kilometers south of Neukirch town center, between the districts of Oberlangensee and Unterlangensee , at an altitude of around 541  m above sea level. NHN . The Langensee is part of the Kreuzweiher-Langensee nature reserve, which was designated in 1973 and expanded in 1994 .

Hydrology

Like the nearby Muttel- , Wieland- and Degersee lakes , the Langensee emerged as a meltwater lake at the end of the last ice age around 16,000 years ago. The size of the kidney-shaped lake basin is 5.6  hectares , the length about 570 meters, the width 100 meters. Its maximum depth is 1.4 meters. At an average depth of 1.1 meters, the lake has a volume of 59,000 cubic meters. The shore length is approximately 1,300 meters.

The catchment area of ​​the Langensee covers around 67 hectares; 30 percent of this is forests and 70 percent is land used for agriculture. The inlet of the Langensee takes place via meadow ditches, the outflow via the Kreuzweiher and the Bollenbach into the Argen .

With the help of the action program for the rehabilitation of Upper Swabian lakes , extensification measures were implemented between 1995 and 2001 ; funding was provided by the Lake Constance district .
From 2010, the community of Neukirch with the Kreuzweiher, Langensee, Mahlweiher in Ebersberg and Jägerweiher will again be involved in the action program for the rehabilitation of Upper Swabian lakes. An important goal of this lake program is to reduce nutrient inputs in streams, lakes and ponds and thereby improve and maintain the condition of the water bodies.

Flora and fauna

The shores are flat and with the for landing areas covered typical plants. Among other things, the white water lily ( Nymphaea alba ), which is a typical representative of floating leaf plants, the yellow pond rose ( Nuphar lutea ) and the specular pondweed ( Potamogeton lucens ) grow in the water .

Until 2000, eel , perch , bream , pike , crucian carp , carp , roach , rudd , tench , bleak , catfish and pikeperch were present in the lake. The Langensee is privately owned and leased to the Langenseefischer interest group .
