List of bog colonies in East Frisia
The list of bog colonies in East Friesland includes the colonies established since 1633 in the raised and fens of that region in the far north-west of Germany. In that year four merchants from Emden founded Großefehn , the oldest feudal settlement in East Friesland and the second oldest in Germany after Papenburg .
The Upstreek settlements of the Middle Ages are not included in this list , as they did not establish new localities, but merely expanded the field markings of already existing places through reclamation of the adjacent moors.
This list serves as a supplement to the article Moorkolonisierung in Ostfriesland , the further literature can be found there.
