In addition to the historical masters, the list includes master players who are (or were) eligible to play for the Lithuanian Chess Federation and who won the Lithuanian individual championship (both in local and correspondence chess ) or the national championship during the independence of Lithuania between 1918 and 1940 or from 1990 onwards Individual championship from another state, or having an IM or GM title (of both sexes), or having achieved an Elo of at least 2400 or are outstanding correspondence chess players (GM, SIM, IM, LGM, LIM).
