Toxic waste

Laboratory analyzes have shown an alarming value in a concrete sample. Extrapolated to 1 kilogram of concrete, the experts found 750 grams of hexachlorocyclohexane (HCH). The poison has been lying on footpaths as gravel and concrete for more than three decades - with the rainwater, traces of the poison have also reached the meadow and the Lörxbach. The environmental organization Pingwin Planet found HCH in water samples, as well as in the sediments of the stream, where they even found HCH particles. The HCH comes from the French factory Ugine Kuhlmann, which produced the insecticide lindane in Huningue until 1976 . The production of lindane creates 20% product and 80% HCH waste. The French authorities have known about the poisonous HCH gravel in Hagenthal since 1972. In 2005, the Office for Environment and Energy of the canton of Basel-Landschaft found HCH in the water of the Lörxbach - without reacting. The Lörxbach forms z. T. the border between France and Switzerland.
