Angola took part in the 1996 Summer Olympics in the US metropolis of Atlanta with 28 athletes, 13 men and 15 women, in eight competitions in five sports.

Since 1980 it was Angola's fourth participation in the Summer Olympic Games .

Flag bearer

The handball player Palmira de Almeida carried the Angolan flag during the opening ceremony on July 19, 1996 at the Centennial Olympic Stadium .

Medals

The 28 athletes could not win any medals. The handball players achieved the best placement with 7th place in their competition.
