Leipzig Book Fair Prize / Translation
Winner and nominated authors for the Leipzig Book Fair Prize in the translation category . The award has been presented at the Leipzig Book Fair since 2005 and includes both first-time and new translations into German. The award is endowed with 15,000 euros for the award-winning author, with an additional 1,000 euros for each nominee (status: 2019).
Award winners
Translators with German citizenship received the most awards (13 wins), followed by Switzerland (two successes). So far, no translator has won the award more than once. Maralde Meyer-Minnemann received most of the nominations (2005, 2011, 2013), but her translations have so far received no awards.
The publishers with the most award winners are Ammann and Suhrkamp (three wins each). Translations from the English language were honored with six honors most frequently.
