Rigaud is a French commune in the Alpes-Maritimes in the region Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Nice and the Canton of Vence . The residents call themselves Rigaudois.

geography

The community is located in the French Maritime Alps . The neighboring municipalities are Beuil in the north, Pierlas , Lieuche and Thiéry in the east, Touët-sur-Var in the south, Puget-Théniers in the southwest and Puget-Rostang in the west. The village is on a high plateau above the valley of the river Cians , a tributary of the Var .

An early mention of the village comes from the 13th century - it was then called "Rigaudum".
