Saint-Agnan is a French municipality with 137 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Nièvre in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté (before 2016 Bourgogne ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Château-Chinon (Ville) and the canton of Château-Chinon (until 2015 Montsauche-les-Settons ).

Saint-Agnan is about sixty kilometers east-northeast of Nevers in the Morvan . The Lac de Saint-Agnan reservoir is located in the municipality and is fed by the Trinquelin and Cousin rivers. Saint-Agnan is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Léger-Vauban in the north, Saint-Germain-de-Modéon in the northeast, La Roche-en-Brenil in the east and northeast, Saint-Didier in the east, and Champeau-en-Morvan in the southeast , Saint-Brisson in the south, Dun-les-Places in the west and south-west and Quarré-les-Tombes in the west and north-west.
