The Scottish Football League Division Two was played for the 56th time in 1961/62 . After the introduction of Division One , it was also the 56th edition of the men's second-highest football division in the Scottish Football League under the name Division Two . In the 1961/62 season, 19 clubs competed against each other in a total of 36 match days. Each team played once at home and away against every other team. The 2-point rule applied . In the event of a tie, the goal quotient counted . The championship was won by FC Clyde , who together with the runner-up Queen of the South secured promotion to Division One. Scorer with 30 goals was Peter Smith of Alloa Athletic .
