- New York / United States : The United Nations admit Tuvalu as its 189th member.
Thursday September 7, 2000
- New York / United States : The police arrested Tim Commerford , the bassist of the band Rage Against the Machine after this during the presentation of the Video Music Awards of the television station MTV climbed onto the stage. Rage Against the Machine remains without a price that evening.

- Quito / Ecuador : The country suspends its currency, sucre . Buyers across the country can only pay in US dollars . As early as 1999, Ecuador was no longer able to settle the debt securities from the Brady Plan , since then the external and internal value of the Sucres have expired.

- New York / United States : The performance series of the musical Cats on Broadway ends after 18 years and 7,485 performances. Never before has a musical been on Broadway for so long.
Tuesday September 12, 2000
- Amsterdam / Netherlands : Parliament votes in favor of equal treatment of registered partnerships between homosexual couples and civil marriage between heterosexual couples in the Netherlands. From the beginning of 2001, the country will be the first state in the world to enable “marriage for all”. In addition to the marriage ceremony, the law passed will also grant spouses the right to adopt Dutch children.

- Washington, DC / United States : The Senate approved by 83 votes to 15 the inclusion of China into the World Trade Organization WTO . It is a signal to restart trade relations between the two states.

- Moscow / Russia : Strangers killed Iskandar Chatlonij , the correspondent for the Tajik service of the radio station RFE / RL , in his apartment with an ax. Chatlonij was with research on human rights violations in Chechnya busy. Similar research has repeatedly led to criticism from official sources.

- Jerusalem / Israel : Ariel Sharon from the opposition party Likud , who during his time as Minister for National Infrastructure drove the expansion of Israeli settlements in the occupied territories , accompanied by 1,000 politicians, journalists and police officers visits the Temple Mount to show that it is "belongs" not only to the Muslims , but also to the Jews . Many Palestinians perceive the action as a provocation. There are peaceful demonstrations against Sharon.

- Jerusalem / Israel , Palestinian Territories : After Ariel Sharon's visit to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, the violent clashes between Israeli security forces and Palestinians increased , so that some commentators are already speaking of the outbreak of a “ Second Intifada ”. They refer to the six-year Intifada from 1987 onwards, in which over 1,000 people died.
