The Taylor County is a county in the state of Florida of the United States . The county seat is Perry .
history
Taylor County was formed on December 23, 1856 from parts of Madison County. It was named after Zachary Taylor , the 12th President of the United States, whose term in office lasted from 1849 to 1851.

The county has an area of 3,191 square kilometers, of which 492 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Jefferson County , Madison County , Lafayette County, and Dixie County .

As of the 2010 census , Taylor County had 22,570 people in 10,947 households. The population density was 8.2 inhabitants per square kilometer. Ethnically, the population was composed of 75.2% white, 20.7% African American , 0.8% Native American and 0.7% Asian Americans . 0.9% were members of other races and 1.7% of different races. 3.4% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 30.3% of all households and persons aged 65 and over lived in 32.4% of all households. 68.0% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.44 people and the average family size was 2.93 people.
21.9% of the population were younger than 20 years, 26.6% were 20 to 39 years old, 29.3% were 40 to 59 years old, and 22.2% were 60 years or older. The mean age was 41 years. 55.6% of the population were male and 44.4% were female.
The median income for a household in the 34,634 USD , while 19.1% of the population lived below the poverty line.
In 2010, English was the first language of 95.78% of the population, 2.10% spoke Spanish and 2.12% had another mother tongue.
