GLAAD Media Award

The GLAAD Media Awards for the first time in 1990 awarded Awards of US organization GLAAD , the US-American media of news and entertainment industry for fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the annual LGBT - community issues in question or their environment be awarded.

Davidson / Valentini Award

The Davidson / Valentini Award has been presented since 2000 to an openly LGBT person who has made a significant change in the demand for equal rights for the LGBT community. The award is named after Craig Davidson, the first managing director of GLAAD, and his partner Michael Valentini, a GLAAD supporter. The winner is presented annually during the GLAAD Media Awards ceremony in San Francisco .

Excellence in Media Award

The Excellence in Media Award has been presented in New York since 1996 to people in the media and entertainment industry who have promoted the visibility and understanding of the LGBT community through their work.

Golden Gate Award

The Golden Gate Award has been given to media professionals who have promoted the visibility and understanding of the LGBT community since 2000. It will be presented at the San Francisco International Film Festival .

Stephen F. Kolzak Award

The Stephen F. Kolzak Award has been given to openly lesbian or gay people in the media and entertainment industry since 1993 for their work in eliminating homophobia. It is named after a successful Los Angeles Role Director who devoted the last part of his life to fighting AIDS phobia and homophobia in the entertainment industry.

The Vanguard Award has been presented in Los Angeles since 1994 to honor a member of the entertainment industry who has made significant differences in promoting equal rights for LGBT people

Vito Russo Award

The Vito Russo Award has been presented to members of the entertainment or media society who are openly lesbian or gay since 2000 for their special contribution to the elimination of homophobia . The award is named after Vito Russo , a founding member of GLAAD and author of the book The Celluloid Closet, and is awarded in New York. In the early days there were various prizes, some of which were only awarded once. Special prizes were sometimes given to honor special personalities.

Barbara Gittings Award

Between 2001 and 2004, the prize was awarded to groundbreaking individuals, groups or media who have made a significant contribution to the development of LGBT media. The first recipient of the award was Barbara Gittings in recognition of her pioneering work as author of the lesbian magazine The Ladder and for her appearance as an open lesbian in national news media during the 1970s and 1980s.

Capitol Award

The award was given in Washington from 1999 to 2001 to open-minded LGBT people for their excellence in a specific media area and for having supported the visibility and understanding of the LGBT community through their work.
