Geography and traffic

Warnau is on the federal highway 404 between Kiel and Bad Segeberg . The place is about 9 km east of Bordesholm , about 17 km south of Kiel and about 500 meters southeast of the Hochfelder See . From 1911 to 1961 Warnau was the railway station of the Kleinbahn Kiel – Segeberg , whose tracks were removed in 1962.

history

The name Warnau is derived from varna (polabic) for '(raven) crow'. The local history goes back to the 14th century. The documented founding date of Warnau is January 17, 1481.

Of the nine seats in the municipal council, the FBW community of voters has five seats since the 2018 local elections and the BGW community of voters four.
