The Booking Holdings Inc. is an American company headquartered in Norwalk in the US state of Connecticut . The company operates online travel portals and operated under The Priceline Group until February 2018 .

  • In 1997 Jay Walker published Priceline.com.
  • In 1999 it went public as The Priceline Group (abbreviation: PCLN).
  • In 2000, founder Jay Walker left the governing body.
  • In 2001, Priceline.com started making profits.
  • In 2004 ActiveHotels.com was taken over.
  • In 2005 Booking.com was acquired and combined with ActiveHotels.com.
  • In 2007, the Asian hotel search engine Agoda.com was taken over.
  • In 2009 the company was included in the S&P 500 .
  • In 2010, Priceline became the world's largest hotel search engine.
  • In 2010 the rental car portal known today as Rentalcars.com was acquired as TravelJigsaw.
  • In 2013 the travel portal Kayak was taken over.
  • In 2014 the name was changed to The Priceline Group and the restaurant portal OpenTable was taken over.
  • In 2017, a court in Turkey prohibited Booking.com from any brokerage activity.
  • 2018 Change of name to Booking Holdings (code: BKNG).
