The Burswood Dome (officially: Dome at Crown Perth ) was a multi-purpose hall in the Australian city of Perth in the state of Western Australia .
history
The Burswood Superdome, inaugurated on August 28, 1987, was designed for concerts , sporting events or a wide variety of events. The building with a length of 118 meters and a width of 74.5 meters (8,800 m 2 area) offered 13,600 permanently installed seats. It could be expanded to over 20,000 seats with temporarily installed seats. The dome was spanned by a Teflon- coated air-supported roof made of glass fiber reinforced plastic at a height of 35 meters. The construction let natural light shine into the interior. A grid of wire ropes held the roof , which was constantly filled with air by eight large fans, in position. After the opening of the Perth Arena in November 2012, the fans were switched off and the roof vented on June 28, 2013 in preparation for the demolition. In July 2013, demolition of the hall began to make way for a parking lot with 1,000 spaces.
