The Hovedserien 1953/54 was the tenth season of the highest Norwegian football league and the sixth season under the name Hovedserien . The season began on July 26, 1953 and ended with the final on June 27, 1954.

mode

The 16 teams played against each other in two groups, each with eight teams, in a simple game round with a return game, so that each team played 14 games. The two last placed had to be relegated.

The champion was determined in a final game between the two group winners. Compared to the previous season, some of the groups have been redistributed.

season

Skeid Oslo and Fredrikstad only qualified for the final on the last group match day. Fredrikstad prevailed 2-1 and became Norwegian champions for the sixth time.

Geithus IL , Moss FK and Nordnes IL had to relegate from the newcomers . Only SK Freidig could stay in the Hovedserien .
