After only one episode, Arthur Abraham voluntarily left the show on the advice of the boxing association doctor Walter Wagner, in order to recover from his last boxing match on March 27, 2010 against Andre Dirrell and then to be able to devote himself fully to his boxing career again. As a replacement for the Abraham / Uszkureit couple, the previously eliminated Rolf Scheider and partner Motsi Mabuse took part in the competition again. A week later, Hiltrud Schwetje also left. After suffering a fracture in her left hand during training, she fell so badly on her right knee shortly before the second broadcast on April 16 that she had to be taken to the hospital and was unable to dance that evening. A few days later it was found that Schwetje had to drop out of the show entirely. Like his colleague Scheider, Mathieu Carrière , who had already left, was given the opportunity to move up. When he turned down this offer, the field of participants was permanently reduced by one candidate from the third broadcast. During the dress rehearsal for the sixth broadcast on May 14th, professional dancer Christian Bärens was seriously injured. Although he was able to play the show despite his back injury, he had to stop training afterwards. Bärens' dance partner Sylvie van der Vaart danced from the seventh show with Christian Polanc , who had originally appeared at Hiltrud Schwetje's side.
For the first time, the jury determined a dance task for the final, favoring a weaker performance from the shows that had been broadcast to date, which should be presented again by the finalists due to the previous performance.
The ratings of the season were above the station average.
