List of scientific academies
The list gives an overview of the existing academies of science . An academy of sciences is a learned society and an institution for the promotion of scientific research . The members of a national or international academy of sciences are generally recognized as recognized top scientists. For example, according to the statistics of the academy, there are 29 Nobel Prize winners in the European Academy of Sciences and Arts as of 2012 . Normally, you cannot apply yourself. B. due to merits for research and society, nominated by a selection committee and then elected by the academy (see also the various notifications about new memberships from the information service of the sciences idw or from the universities). For those concerned, membership should therefore mostly be an award and recognition of their scientific work.
Note: In the case of academies that do not yet have their own entry or wiki in the German-language Wikipedia lexicon, in some cases their names are followed by an abbreviation in brackets to indicate in which Wikipedia edition there may be a foreign-language entry. Example: The abbreviation (wp: en) refers to wp = Wikipedia in the en = English version. Furthermore: es = Spanish, fi = Finnish, fr = French, it = Italian, nl = Dutch, pl = Polish, pt = Portuguese, sv = Swedish, ru = Russian and tk = Turkish version.
