Muda is a village ( Estonian küla ) in the rural municipality Hiiumaa (until 2017: rural municipality Emmaste ). It is located on the second largest Estonian island Hiiumaa (German Dagö ).

The Maaker family of musicians

Muda is best known for the Anupõllu talu farm . The Maaker family of Estonian musicians comes from there .

In particular, Juhan Maaker (1845–1930), a civil captain, became a celebrated star of popular popular music in Estonia and Finland after the First World War . By his nickname Torupilli-Juss ( " bagpipes -Juss") of the musician and businessman came to success and some wealth. He was often accompanied by his younger brother Priidu Maaker (1858–1926).

Priidus son Alexander Maaker (1890–1968), called Torupilli-Sass ("Sackpfeifen-Sass"), later successfully followed in the footsteps of his father and uncle.
