Chile took part for the 18th time in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta with a delegation of 21 athletes (sixteen men and five women) in eighteen competitions in ten sports. No medal could be won. The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the athlete Sebastián Keitel .
