In 1997, RSC Anderlecht top officials admitted that Spanish referee Emilio Carlos Guruceta , who was killed in a BMW in 1987 , was bribed with £ 27,000 before the second leg. In that game, a goal for Nottingham was not given and Anderlecht were awarded a controversial penalty.
