Wilson County is a county in the state of Tennessee in the United States . The county seat is Lebanon .

The county is east of the geographic center of Tennessee and has an area of 1,510 square kilometers, of which 33 square kilometers are water. It is bordered by counties in a clockwise direction: Trousdale County , Smith County , DeKalb County , Cannon County , Rutherford County , Davidson County, and Sumner County .
history
Wilson County was formed on October 26, 1799 from parts of Sumner County. It was named after Major David Wilson (1752-1804), a veteran of the American Revolutionary War and member of the administration of the Southwest Territory in 1794.

According to the 2000 census , Wilson County had 88,809 people in 32,798 households and 25,582 families. The population density was 60 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 91.50 percent white, 6.26 percent African American, 0.32 percent Native American, 0.48 percent Asian, 0.03 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.48 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.92 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 1.27 percent of the population.
Of the 32,798 households, 37.2 percent had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 64.2 percent were married or living together, 10.1 percent were single mothers, and 22.0 percent were non-families. 18.1 percent were single households and 6.1 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.67 and the average household size was 3.03.
26.2 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 7.7 percent between 18 and 24; 31.7 percent between 25 and 44; 24.7 percent were between 45 and 64 and 9.7 percent were over 65. The mean age was 36 years. Statistically, for every 100 females there were 97.4 males and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 94.8 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $ 50,140 , and the median income for a family was $ 56,650. Males had a median income of $ 39,848 versus $ 26,794 for females. The per capita income was $ 22,739. 4.6 percent of families and 6.7 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
