Williamson County is a county in the state of Tennessee in the United States . The county seat is Franklin .

The county is located west of the geographic center of Tennessee and has an area of 1,512 square kilometers, of which 2 square kilometers are water. It is bordered by counties in a clockwise direction: Davidson County , Rutherford County , Marshall County , Maury County , Hickman County , Dickson County, and Cheatham Counties .
history
Williamson County was formed on October 26, 1799 from parts of Davidson County. It was named after Hugh Williamson , a US politician, member of the Continental Congress and signatory of the United States Constitution .
Two places in the county have the status of a National Historic Landmark , the Franklin Battlefield from the American Civil War and the Hiram Masonic Lodge No. 7 , a Masonic lodge house . 140 buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of September 14, 2018).

As of the 2000 census , Williamson County had 126,638 people in 44,725 households and 35,780 families. The population density was 84 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 91.55 percent white, 5.18 percent African American, 0.20 percent Native American, 1.25 percent Asian, 0.03 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.97 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.82 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.52 percent of the population.
Of the 44,725 households, 43.0 percent had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 69.8 percent were married couples living together, 7.8 percent were single mothers, and 20.0 percent were non-families. 16.6 percent were single households and 4.5 percent had people aged 65 or over. The average household size was 2.81 and the average household size was 3.18 people.
29.5 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 6.2 percent between 18 and 24, 31.6 percent between 25 and 44, 24.9 percent between 45 and 64 and 7.7 percent were older than 65. The mean age was 36 years. Statistically, there were 97.0 males for every 100 females and 93.7 males for every 100 females aged 18 and over.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 69,104 , and the median income for a family is $ 78,315. Males had a median income of $ 56,647 versus $ 32,243 for females. The per capita income was $ 32,496. 3.5 percent of families and 4.7 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
