The festivals with Florian Silbereisen (formerly Die Feste der Volksmusik ) are ARD entertainment programs in which various artists from the fields of folk music , folk music , hits , pop music , musicals, evergreens and classical music appear with their successful titles. Depending on the season, the festivals are given an elaborately designed stage design and an addition to the name. This also depends on the content of the program in question (e.g. " The Advent Festival of 100,000 Lights ").
broadcast
The first broadcast was broadcast on June 2, 1994 as a summer festival of folk music, at that time still on the broadcast slot on Thursday at 9:03 p.m. Since February 4, 1995, they have been broadcast as a big Saturday evening show. Up until December 25, 2003, five shows were broadcast annually: the Winter Festival (February), Spring Festival (April), Summer Festival (June), Autumn Festival (September) and Christmas Festival (December) of folk music. Until December 25, 2003, Carmen Nebel presented a total of 46 episodes, and since February 7, 2004, Florian Silbereisen has presented the format. On September 18, 2004, the 50th episode was broadcast. Since Florian Silbereisen took over the show, the concept has been slightly redesigned: In 2004 there was a wedding party instead of a summer party and an anniversary party for the 50th episode as well as an additional Advent party instead of an autumn party. In 2005 the summer festival was reintroduced and the Advent festival introduced the year before replaces Christmas on Christmas Day. Currently, at the beginning of each year, particularly successful Schlager artists are awarded the “One of the Best” in “Schlagerchampions - The Great Festival of the Best”. In autumn there is a broadcast under the title “Schlagerboom” and on the Saturday before the first Advent The Christmas markets traditionally open with the “Advent Festival of 100,000 Lights”. In addition, there are usually two other programs, the titles of which vary. “The festivities with Florian Silbereisen” are among the most successful music shows on German television with up to 7.5 million viewers. Nevertheless, rarely more than 500,000 of them are younger than 50 years. The broadcaster responsible for the series is MDR .
Due to the coronavirus epidemic , the festival planned for March 14, 2020 in Halle (Saale) under the title "Schlagerlovestory - The spring show totally in love" has been postponed to June 6, 2020 in Leipzig's Media City. For the first time a show was broadcast without an audience.

At the Advent festival in 2014, Silbereisen, Chris de Burgh and Mireille Mathieu sang together and in three languages the hit song When the sun wakes up . In 2018, the pop singer Sasha presented a song from his first German-language album “Schlüsselkind” on German and Austrian television for the first time in the program “Schlager, Stars und Sterne” with “Immer wie immer”, accompanied by Florian Silbereisen on the Styrian harmonica. Since December 2015 it has been broadcast live on the internet as a web magazine for the festival immediately after the show.
