1st Lig 1982/83

The 1st Lig 1983/84 was the 26th season of the highest Turkish league in men's football . It began on August 20, 1983 with the game Fenerbahçe Istanbul against Boluspor , which went 1-0 and ended on May 27, 1984. From December 25, 1983 to February 20, 1983, the season was interrupted by the winter break.

On May 20, 1984, the 33rd matchday, Trabzonspor secured by a 0-0 draw against Sakaryaspor one matchday before the end of the season, the 6th and so far last Turkish championship in the club's history. This season was to be the last championship season so far for the great Trabzonspor team, better known as Karadeniz Fırtınası , which dominated Turkish football from 1975 to 1984. It was to be the last championship a team outside of Istanbul could win by the 2009/10 season . In the 2009/10 season, Bursaspor surprisingly won the Turkish championship as the second Anatolian team, thus ending Trabzonspors' unique selling point.

Attendees

For the 1st Lig 1983/84, the four promoted teams from the last second division season have been added to the 14 clubs that remained from the previous season . The climbers were the four second division champions Karagümrük SK , Denizlispor , Gençlerbirliği Ankara and Orduspor . While the rise for Denizlispor meant the first first division participation in the club's history, Orduspor returned with the rise after three years in the 1st Lig. The traditional Istanbul club returned to the first league after 21 years of abstinence and the capital city of Gençlerbirliği after 14 years of abstinence.
