82nd Reserve Division (German Empire)

The 82nd Reserve Division was a major unit of the Prussian army in the First World War .

history

The division was set up in December 1914, transported to the Western Front via Belgium and unloaded at Kortrijk in January 1915 . In February 1915, the large association fought in the Chaulnes area west of the Somme . On March 28th the transport to Galicia on the Eastern Front for the XXXXI took place. Reserve Corps . At the beginning of May she took part in the Gorlice-Tarnow offensive , crossed the San and took part in the fighting for Przemysl . On May 9th she fought near Jaslo , from May 12th to 21st in the south of Radymno and in early June near Medyka . In mid-June 1915, the division fought in the Battle of Lemberg and was involved in the conquest of Brest-Litovsk and Pinsk in August 1915 , before moving on to trench warfare in the swamp there .

At the beginning of December 1917, the division was relocated to the western front and initially deployed northwest of Conflans (Verdun area). In August 1918 she was in position at Arvillers and on the 18th was withdrawn from the area northwest of Roye . Between August 27 and September 2, she defended the Canal du Nord, roughly along the Chaulnes line to the north of Moyencourt . At the end of the war in November 1918, she fought south of Guise .

After the end of the war, the division marched back home, was demobilized and disbanded on February 2, 1919.
