Berjosowski ( Russian Берёзовский ) is a city in Sverdlovsk Oblast ( Russia ) with 51,651 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The city is located on the eastern edge of the Middle Urals , about 15 km northeast of the Oblast capital Yekaterinburg not far from the confluence of the eponymous river Berjosowka in the upper reaches of the Pyschma , a right tributary of the Tura in the Ob river system .
Berjosowski is directly subordinate to the Oblast administratively.
Berjosowski is located on a branch line used in freight and suburban traffic of the railway line Yekaterinburg - Artjomowski (station Yegorschino ) - Tawda - Meschduretschenski (station Ustye-Acha ) opened on this section in 1916 . The city's station is called Beresit (after the local gold-bearing rock).
history
After Jerofei Markow had discovered a gold deposit in 1745 , a mining settlement was established in 1752 near the Berjosowski gold mine, which was built here . In 1938 the place received city rights.

Culture and sights
In Berjowowski there is a museum of the history of gold and platinum mining in the Urals.
economy
Beryozovsky is the center of gold mining in the Middle Urals. There is also a rolling mill for special steel alloys , the construction industry and a furniture factory.
