Boone County was formed on April 9, 1869 from parts of Carroll County and Madison Counties as 63rd County and one of the first after the Civil War . It was named after Daniel Boone , a US pioneer and border guard who opened up the so-called Wilderness Trail and founded the town of Boonesborough in Kentucky .
Demographic data
According to the 2000 census , Boone County's population was 33,948. 600 people lived in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 13,851 households and 9,861 families. The population density was 22 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 97.60 percent white, 0.11 percent African American, 0.71 percent Native American, 0.32 percent Asian, 0.02 percent from the Pacific island area and 0.34 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.90 percent are descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 1.06 percent of the population.
Of the 13,851 households, 30.7 percent had children or adolescents under the age of 18 living with them. 59.5 percent were married couples living together, 8.8 percent were single mothers, 28.8 percent were non-families. 25.6 percent of all households were single households and 11.2 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.41 and the average family size was 2.88 people.
23.9 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 8.2 percent between 18 and 24, 26.5 percent between 25 and 44, 24.7 percent between 45 and 64 and 16.7 percent were 65 years or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were statistically 93.1 males and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there was an average of 89.7 males.
The median income for a household in the 29,988 USD , and the median income for a family 34,974 USD. Males had a median income of $ 27,114 versus $ 19,229 for females. The per capita income was $ 16,175. 10.7 percent of families and 14.8 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
