Creek County is a county in the US state of Oklahoma . At the 2010 census , the county had 69,967 people and a population density of 28.3 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Sapulpa .
Creek County is part of the metropolitan area around the city of Tulsa .
geography
The county is north-northeast of the geographic center of Oklahoma in the southwest suburb of Tulsa. It has an area of 2,512 square kilometers, of which 37 square kilometers are water. The following counties border the Creek County:

history
Creek County was formed on July 16, 1907 as the original county from Creek Land. The previously chosen name Moman County in honor of Moman Pruiett was rejected at the last moment by the Constituent Assembly ("Constitutional Convention"). Instead, it was decided to use the name Creek County, after the North American Indian people the Muskogee (Creek) .
