The Beaver County is a county in the US state of Oklahoma . At the 2010 census , the county had 5,636 people and a population density of 1.2 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Beaver .
geography
The county in the east of three counties of the so-called Oklahoma Panhandle . This is a 60 km wide and 267 km long strip that extends from central northern Oklahoma west to the border with New Mexico . It is limited to the north by the border with Kansas and further west to Colorado . The southern end is the northern foothills of Texas , also known as the Texas Panhandle .
The county is traversed by the upper reaches of the North Canadian River , called the Beaver River , a tributary of the Canadian River from west to east.
Beaver County borders Kansas to the north and Texas to the south and covers an area of 4,708 square kilometers, of which 8 square kilometers are water. It borders on the following counties:

history
Beaver County was formed in 1890 as the original Free Territory County. It was named, like the district capital, after the Beaver River , which flows through the county. The Jones and Plummer Trail also ran through the county, and later herd of cattle were driven from Texas to Kansas .
Ten buildings and sites in the county are on the National Register of Historic Places (as of May 19, 2018).

According to the 2000 census , Beaver County had 5,857 people in 2,245 households and 1,706 families. The population density was 1 person per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 92.71 percent white, 0.29 percent African American, 1.25 percent Native American, 0.10 percent Asian, 0.03 percent of residents from the Pacific island region and 3.76 percent from other ethnic groups together; 1.86 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any of the above mentioned groups were 10.76 percent of the population.
Of the 2,245 households, 33.5 percent had children under the age of 18 living with them. 66.3 percent were married couples living together, 6.1 percent were single mothers. 24.0 percent were not families, 22.0 percent were single households and 12.3 percent of the households had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 2.99 people.
26.8 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 6.5 percent between 18 and 24, 25.8 percent between 25 and 44, 24.1 percent between 45 and 64 and 16.9 percent were 65 years or older. The median age was 39 years. Statistically, there were 102.2 males for every 100 females. For every 100 women aged 18 years or older, there were 100.9 men.
The median income for a household in the city was $ 36,715 , and the median income for a family was $ 41,542. Males had a median income of $ 31,013 versus $ 20,162 for females. The per capita income was $ 17,905. 8.8 percent of families and 11.7 percent of the population are below the poverty line.
