The county is located in southwest Kansas, borders Oklahoma to the south and has an area of ​​1,659 square kilometers, of which three square kilometers are water. In Kansas, it is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Haskell County , Meade County, and Stevens County .

history

Seward County was formed on March 20, 1873. It was named after William Henry Seward , a US politician and Secretary of State under US Presidents Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Jackson .
