Clark County is a county in the state of Kansas in the United States . The county seat is Ashland . The county is part of the dry counties , which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

The county is located in southwest Kansas, bordering Oklahoma to the south and has an area of ​​2531 square kilometers, of which seven square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise in Kansas by Concordia Counties: Ford County , Kiowa County , Comanche County, and Meade Counties .

history

Clark County was formed on March 7, 1885 from parts of Ford County. It was named after Charles F. Clarke , an American Civil War officer who died at the Battle of Memphis .

Clark County had a population of 2,390 people as of the 2000 census .
