Phillips County is a county in the state of Kansas in the United States . The county seat is Phillipsburg .

The county is located in northern Kansas, bordering Nebraska and has an area of ​​2318 square kilometers, of which 22 square kilometers are water. In Kansas, it is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Smith County , Rooks County , Graham County, and Norton Counties .

Phillips County was formed on February 26, 1867. It was named after William Phillips, an activist and opponent of slavery .

According to the 2000 census , Phillips County had 6,001 people in 2,496 households and 1,722 families in Phillips County. The population density was 3 people per square kilometer.
