Stevens County is a county in the state of Kansas in the United States . The county seat is Hugoton . The county is part of the dry counties , which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

The county is located almost in the extreme southwest of Kansas, borders Oklahoma in the south , is about 45 km from Colorado in the west and has an area of ​​1,885 square kilometers with no significant water surface. history

Stevens County was formed on August 3, 1886. It was named after the American statesman Thaddeus Stevens, who died in 1868 .
