Sheridan County is a county in the state of Kansas in the United States . The county seat is Hoxie . The county is part of the dry counties , which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

The county is located in central northwest Kansas, about 45 km north of Nebraska , and covers an area of ​​2,322 square kilometers, one square kilometer of which is water. It is bordered by counties in a clockwise direction: Decatur County , Norton County , Graham County , Gove County, and Thomas County .

history

Sheridan County was formed on 1880. It was named after Philip Sheridan , a lieutenant general of the Northern States in the American Civil War .
