Morris County is a county in the state of Kansas in the United States . The county seat is Council Grove .

The county is located in east central Kansas and has an area of ​​1,820 square kilometers, of which 14 square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Geary County , Wabaunsee County , Lyon County , Chase County , Marion County, and Dickinson County .

history

Morris County was formed on February 11, 1859. It was named after Thomas Morris , a US Senator from Ohio .

Morris County has a National Historic Landmark , the Council Grove Historic District . A total of 23 buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (as of August 30, 2017).
